Ward: Eagle, A Celebrated Stallion
- Worldwide shipping
James Ward is one of the greatest and most famous animal painters of the 19th century. He, too, was primarily dedicated to painting horses.
Eagle was a very famous racehorse around 1809. Particularly beautiful in this painting is the contrast between the highly bred, high-performance horse and the wild landscape in the background. In Ward's imagery, this image reflects the wild, untamed nature of the horse. And although Ward is one of the greatest and most precise observers of equine physiognomy, his romanticization of the horse's soul is evident here.
The image is a Giclee print on artist's canvas stretched on wood. The framed image measures approximately 62cm x 47cm. It is made of a gilded solid wood frame.
The XXL version with frame has the dimensions 89 x 67cm.
