I have to admit, until recently, the term "Mint Julep" meant absolutely nothing to me. I didn't know it was a drink, nor did I know that it was so closely associated with the American horse world.
I immediately liked this stainless steel mug with the small snaffle bit on it. Only later did I realize it was a mint julep mug. The shape is probably traditional, and the material can vary from silver to stainless steel.
The Mint Julep is considered the forerunner of cocktails and dates back to the 18th century. Today, it is an official traditional drink at the Kentucky Derby races.
The recipe consists of mint, bourbon whiskey, sugar, and crushed ice. Have you tried it yet? It's sure to taste delicious in the 11cm tall mug. You can also put it in the freezer beforehand to keep the drink colder for longer.
