George Stubbs is arguably the most famous horse painter of the 19th century. His scientific interest in horse anatomy opened new avenues for horse painting.
Molly Long-Legs was a racehorse from the stable of Viscount Bolingbroke, who was a patron of George Stubbs. The picture was painted in 1761/1762.
